А мы займемся упражнениями. Past Perfect упражнения предлагаются с ответами, поэтому вы сможете без труда убедится в своих успехах или, если нужно, еще раз обратится к статье по теории The Past Perfect Tense. В некоторых упражнениях возможны различные варианты ответов, поэтому для них я буду давать примерные варианты.

Упражнения разбиты на 2 уровня: уровень A несколько проще, уровень B– немного сложнее.

Past Perfect упражнения уровня A.

Упражнение 1. Complete the sentences using the Past Perfect tense of the verbs below. (Дополните предложения, используя форму Past Perfect глаголов, приведенных ниже.)

Past Perfect упражнения уровня B.

Упражнение 5. Say what action was done before. Combine the two sentences into one. (Oпределите, какое действие произошло раньше. Объедините два предложения в одно, не меняя части местами. Используйте BEFORE )

I sent a telegram. Then I met my friend.

Упражнение 6. Connect each pair of sentences with the conjunctions before, as soon as, after. (Объедините два предложения в одно, используя before, as soon as, after.)

В 1 упражнении в 7 предложении в самом упражнении указана фраза to return from Australia, а в ответах указана фраза had come from Australia, почему return поменяли на come?

Скажите, можно ли в 5 упр. под цифрой 6 : The guests had left before he returned home.

и под цифрой 7: We had come to the cinema before the film began. И если нет, то почему?

Past perfect упражнения, теория и примеры

Система времен в английском языке требует постоянного повторения и совершенствования навыков. В противном случае, правила без практики быстро забываются и четко структурированная система начинает рушиться, накладывая одну информацию на другую, в результате чего все превращается в запутанный грамматический клубок. Чтобы такого не происходило, надо постоянно практиковать свой английский в разговорах или письменной отработке. Сегодня мы будем совершенствовать язык, выполняя past perfect упражнения. Этот вид времени довольно важен, и его часто можно встретить в речи англичан. Для начала вспомним немного теории.

Конструкция и ситуации употребления

Когда мы рассказываем о прошедших событиях, часто бывает, что одно из них предшествует другому, а не происходит одновременно. Для описания таких ситуаций англичане используют во фразах конструкции с past perfect tense. На русском языке эту категорию называют прошедшее совершенное время, или иногда еще проще – предпрошедшее время. Разберем случаи ее употребления.

Данный вид времени чаще всего встречается в предложениях с двумя действиями, одно из которых произошло раньше наступления другого события, или момента времени в прошлом.

В указанных случаях оба действия были завершены в прошлом, поэтому вторая часть предложения ставилась в Past Simple. Иногда встречаются сочетания завершенного события и действия в прошлом, находившегося в процессе, тогда вторая половина высказывания выражена в Past Continuous.

  • My mother had cooked the dinner and was watching a soap opera on the first TV channel –Мояматьприготовилаужинисмотрелакакую-то «мыльнуюоперу»попервомуканалу.

К слову о продолженных временах, форма паст перфект употребляется вместо Past Perfect Continuous, если сказуемое не может иметь продолженного времени, например, глаголы состояний, обладания, отношения.

  • Theysaidthattheyhadn’tbelievedeachothersincethatday— Они сказали, что с того дня они не доверяли друг другу.
  • Iknewthatmyfatherhadn’tseenhisbrothersformanyyears– Я знал, что мой отец не видел своих братьев много лет.

Прежде, чем решать past perfect упражнения, вспомним, как образуются конструкции этого времени.

Подлежащее + had + причастие II + ост. часть предложения

He had done his homework by 5 o’clock and was playing computer games the whole evening.

Он сделал свою домашнюю работу к 5 часам, и играл целый вечер в компьютерные игры. Had + подлежащее + причастие II + ост. часть предложения

Had he done his homework by 5 o’clock…?

Он доделал свою домашнюю работу к 5 часам…? Подлежащее + had + not + причастие II + ост. часть предложения

He hadn’t done his homework by 5 o’clock….

Он не сделал свою домашнюю работу к 5 часам….

Остается добавить, что своеобразным указателем на употребление данного времени являются придаточные союзы «scarcely…when», «no sooner…than», «hardly…when». Будьте внимательны, поскольку с такими конструкциями изменяется порядок слов в предложении, что показано на приведенном ниже примере.

Когда вы уже изучили какую-то тему, то закрепление ее в упражнениях — обязательная часть улучшения уровня вашего языка. Если вы помните, то я всегда твержу, что практика — это основа всего. Поэтому сегодня я хочу дать вам упражнения на закрепление темы Past Perfect, которую мы обсуждали до этого. Вас ждет 5 упражнений, которые помогут запомнить и усовершенствовать эту тему.

Упражнение 1.

  1. I just (to come) home when Mike (to call).
  2. I (to book) the table before we (to go) to the cafe.
  3. Jenny had a terrible pain in her leg. She (to injure) it in a car accident.
  4. John (to leave) the place by the time my mother (to return) from work.
  5. When they (to arrive) the registration for their flight (already/to begin)
  6. They (to be) late because they (to get) the tyre flat.
  7. The team (already/to play) half of the game when we (to arrive) at the stadium.

Упражнение 2.

Mary worked as a doctor. 1. She (to arrive) at the hospital and (to have) to check the patients. At room 6 there was Mrs. Wirt. 2. She (to had) a car accident and (to broke) her arm. 3. Her neighbor — Mrs. Lauren — (to fall) from the stairs and (to injure) her leg. Now she had to spend several weeks here. 4. And Mr. Spank (to get) poisoned with bad food. Mary was a doctor to all these people. 5. She (to take) the decision to become a therapist before she (to turn) 6 years old.

Поставьте глагол в правильную форму.

На основе своего опыта могу сказать, что время Past Perfect используется крайне редко в разговорной речи, но довольно часто в письменной. Поэтому если у вас и возникнет мысль, что эта тема не нужна для улучшения вашего языка — то вы глубоко ошибаетесь. Используйте ее в академическом письме или при написании других формальных писем. Не забывайте использовать третью форму глаголов в этом времени.
